You ever leave some food in the refrigerator for a really long time then come back and find that it has had children and gained sentience? That's kind of how it feels to come back to deviantART. All things considered, I don't have THAT many Deviations and messages waiting to be picked through (though I complement the designers of this site since my in box can hold close to 10,000 deviations).

There is three years of work just begging to be let out from my hard drive. To be honest I haven't been back to deviantART in so long because I'm afraid of having my images stolen and used without my permission. But now I'm moving towards web design and though I still care about my copyright, somehow I've pulled the stick out of my ass ^_^ Starting this week I'll be blazing through all my work and posting the gems from school and my career alike.

So ENJOY THEM! Feel inspired and (hopefully) awed! I love looking at everyone else's work, so its time to give back ^_~

A new memeber in the Family

Wow, back to the old Journal format for me . . . The free trial thing DA did was nifty, and I enjoyed putting all that extra stuff on my journal entries, but its something I can live without. After all who wants to know what I'm watching in my squalid dorm room as I sit here pounding away on the keyboard and scarfing down pizza ;-)

Now for some important news!! I have a new member in my family, it's a D70s!! (at this point I bet you've all just had a WTF moment . . . O_o). I know it's wierd to say that a digital camera is a "new family member," but hey, I'm excited about it. It's a little bit of a splurge on my part to get the D70s vs. the D70 (they're pretty similar, just the D70s is newer and has a bigger display), but if I was going to get a new toy . . !! . . . I mean a new piece of equipment for school I might as well go all out. So this weekend has been officially declared "play time" for me and my new family member.

So look out world, I'm going digital!! (though I'll still shoot more film :-P )

Night Photography

Looking through my gallery one can tell that moody portraits and night photography are some of my most favorite things to shoot.

Well I spent all last night out on the streets and I feel so good (and tired) today. I went out shoot the suburban scene here in Rochester with some friends of mine (who actually had a night photography assignment). Anyway so here we are, the three of us with easily $7,000 worth of photo equipment, going around and shooting all of these stores and strip malls at 1 o'clock in the morning. So we're all fairly suspicious looking and are attracting a lot of unwanted stares and attention from passing by motorist. I don't think I've ever been this heavily threatened with police action by rent-a-cops and store owners since I started taking photos. In fact the only location we shot that no one seemed to care if we were there or not was a jewelry store (which you think would draw the MOST attention to ourselves). I find it odd that people are sooooooo uptight when it comes to photographing their business (even though if I were casing the place I'd be more discreet than a 50 lbs. tripod and standing out in the middle of a parking lot).

So in short last night was fun and I hope to have scans to post in a few days.

I know Kung-Fu . . .

Watching: City Hunter (the one with Jackie Chan)

There are only a few things worse than working a full-time job when attending college full-time, and that's being antisocial in the process  .
Actually I'm so busy with classes, work, and Kung-Fu that all of my friends are sleeping by the time I get home. Not to mention the fact that I'm so exhausted and swamped in homework (which I'm actually behind in) that I tend to just shut out the world. *Sigh*
Despite all that, I'm taking Kung-Fu this summer *YAY!!* I can actually go up to someone and say "I know kung-fu" though I can't say it nearly as flatly as Keanu Reeves ;-)
I hate the fact that I have no time durring the day to shoot or to print. I'm going to try to get out and have some fun on the weekends, but I also want to sleep . . . for a L O N G time. I'm going to get a Nikon D70s and a bunch of other fun little things here in about a month so that'll be fun ^_^ I Love film to death though, but with digital I can just play around to my heart's content. Anyway I'm excited!
If any one reads my journals entries (which I doubt slightly) I'm still looking for some ideas on things to shoot.

Wow . . . Talk about not keeping up with things

Ok, the last time I updated my Journal was at the start of last academic quarter here at RIT . . . almost 12 weeks ago :eyepopping:
Anyway it's summer (yay!). Even though I'm taking classes and working I still have plenty of free time to go out, shoot and enjoy the world. I only have my feet to carry me though, but I live in Photo capital USA with one of the most photogenic cementary I know of ;-)
Actually I'm looking for some ideas for "Assignments" for me to do over the summer. Having a set of requirements or something similar is a good way to get out shoot things you normally wouldn't in a lot of different lighting situations. In other words it's a more dynamic way of improving your skills.
If all of you lovely people in cyberspace have any good ideas for "assignments" post them and I'll give them a shot (as long as it isn't anything like photographing corpses )
